Peter Tyser9bfa1142009-01-30 16:36:40 -06001The following is a list of files and features that are going to be
2removed from the U-Boot source tree. Every entry should contain what
3exactly is going away, when it will be gone, why it is being removed,
Wolfgang Denk239862b2010-09-29 11:25:55 +02004and who is going to be doing the work. When the feature is removed
Peter Tyser9bfa1142009-01-30 16:36:40 -06005from U-Boot, its corresponding entry should also be removed from this
6file.

Tom Rini04038562013-04-19 15:09:02 -040010What: Remove unused CONFIG_SYS_MEMTEST_START/END
11When: Release v2013.10
12
13Why: As the 'mtest' command is no longer default, a number of platforms
14 have not opted to turn the command back on and thus provide unused
15 defines (which are likely to be propogated to new platforms from
16 copy/paste). Remove these defines when unused.

Andy Fleming896a7172011-10-31 09:46:13 -050022What: Users of the legacy miiphy_* code
23When: undetermined
24
25Why: We now have a PHY library, which allows everyone to share PHY
26 drivers. All new drivers should use this infrastructure, and
27 all old drivers should get converted to use it.

Wolfgang Denk636e95d2009-04-02 17:31:09 +020033What: GPL cleanup
34When: August 2009
35Why: Over time, a couple of files have sneaked in into the U-Boot
36 source code that are either missing a valid GPL license
37 header or that carry a license that is incompatible with the
38 GPL.
39 Such files shall be removed from the U-Boot source tree.
40 See http://www.denx.de/wiki/pub/U-Boot/TaskGplCleanup/u-boot-1.1.2-files
41 for an old and probably incomplete list of such files.
